The Leadership Podcasts I listen to and why…

I get asked a lot about the podcasts I listen to. I wanted to share my regular list and why I listen to them. I’m not including any church or preaching podcasts at this time because frankly I don’t listen to any on a regular basis. I know that may seem weird for a pastor to say but I just don’t in this season. That doesn’t mean that some of the podcasts I listen to don’t have a spiritual component but some blatantly don’t. Now on to my list.

  • The Craig Groeschel Leadership Podcast – this is my favorite podcast currently. Craig is the senior pastor of Life Church, one of the biggest and most innovative multisite churches in America. He has great podcast where he does the teaching but also has guests on rom time to time. His podcast are very intentional and reflect his disciplined character. He answers listener’s questions on most episodes. Frequency – monthly with some bonus episodes

  • Lead To Win with Michael Hyatt and Megan Hyatt Miller – speaking of intentionality, no one is better than Michael Hyatt. His and Megan’s podcast is always jam packed with good content that is well thought out. It is fast becoming one of my favorites. Frequency – weekly

  • Andy Stanley Leadership Podcast – Andy is the man when it comes to leadership and strategy. He is pastor and founder of North Point Ministries in the Atlanta area. His podcasts and books always stretch me. When he has guests, they’re great. He’s probably one of my favorite people to hear live. Frequency – monthly

  • Carey Nieuwhof Leadership Podcast – Carey’s podcast is usually the longest podcast on this list. He goes well over an hour each week but I like to listen on my long run days. His format is interview style and he interviews most of the greatest pastors and leaders of our time from lost of different backgrounds. Some aren’t my favorite but I learn something every episode. He also has the most ads on his podcast of anyone on this list. Frequency – weekly with some bonus episodes.

  • Building a Story Brand with Donald Miller – this podcast is primarily about marketing and I started listening after I read the corresponding book. It has helped me think on a higher level when it comes to clarifying our messaging as a church. Most of this podcast supports and correlates with Don’s story brand framework. Often his guests seem to be people his company has hired or worked with. I enjoy most episodes. Frequency – weekly

  • Akimbo a podcast from Seth Goden – If you don’t know who Seth is, you should find out. His podcast is always thought provoking. I don’t always agree with Seth either but I am always challenged. I like being challenged because it makes my mind grow stronger. Just like to push myself physically to grow muscles, resistance in my thought patterns makes my mind grow stronger. Frequency – weekly

  • Ted Radio Hour – this podcast by NPR with host Guy Raz rounds out the bottom of my regular podcast list. Its produced for NPR broadcast so has a radio show feel to it. I find it to be always enlightening in some way even when I disagree with the guests point of view. It features clips from the multiple guests TED Talks in addition to interviews with Guy. Every episode has a “theme”. Frequency – weekly but with some reruns
