Leadership by Joshua Part 8

Our last post was on the transition of leadership. Maybe you are starting a new leadership position or are overseeing someone who is in a new position. We can see the next steps after leadership transfer in Joshua 1:6-9.

Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.  Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Look at what God tells Joshua to do in this leadership transition time:

  1. be strong and courageous
  2. be strong and very courageous
  3. be careful to obey
  4. do not deviate or turn
  5. be successful
  6. study the Word
  7. meditate the Word
  8. obey the Word
  9. prosper and succeed
  10. be strong and courageous
  11. don’t fear or get discouraged

Man you can’t read that and not get encouraged. On top of that the people then encourage Joshua in verse 18. I encourage you to do a Word study of this passage. If that don’t light your fire your wood is wet. God wants to prosper you in your next phase on ministry!
