Disappointed, Not Mad

One thing I am sure you’ve discovered in life is that you will get discouraged. Disappointment will come from time to time. I used to work for a guy who used to say “I’m not mad at you, I’m disappointed” whenever one of us employees would fail in some way. We were kind off ornery and we turned it into a joke. We would say “disappointed, not mad” whenever any of us would do the slightest thing wrong.

I was thinking about those days when something happened that disappointed me. How do deal in life when situations disappoint you? Here’s some things that work for me:

  • Be disappointed, not mad. Control your emotions.
  • Realize this is a temporal situation. When its over you’ll look back with one of two reactions: regret or relief.
  • Keep your eyes on the prize. The greater the adversity, the greater the victory.
  • Don’t allow the fear of failure to keep you from moving forward.
  • Don’t dwell on it, move on.
  • Forgive and forget. Don’t hold a grudge.
