Raising Champions – Timothy

We live in a fallen world. People get divorces. Sometimes one parent is a believer while the other isn’t. Does that mean all hope is lost in raising a champion? No. Let’s look at what Paul wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:5:

I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

There is no mention of a grandfather or father in this picture. We know that his father was Greek according to Acts 16:1. We have no reason to believe that he was a Christ follower at all. He still became a pastor and more importantly a Christian. We can also see that Paul became a spiritual father to him. So if you are in a similar situation and concerned about your children’s spiritual heritage take heart. Impart the faith you have to your children. His grace is sufficient for your situation!
